Shows are antiquated
January 28th, 2008 by ChrisRob Walker delves into the success of Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba! ” particulary owing to its smart use of figures culturally relevant to the parents (Biz Markie, Dan Zanes, etc.) and smart merchandising.
For me, this sums it up entirely:
…while “Gabba” is a TV show […] the idea of simply creating “a show” is antiquated. What is created now is a property, a platform, a brand, a multimedia idea, which obviously has to be Big on the Internet.
Every product, every outreach, every attempt at contact from a company to its prospective (and existing) customers should be identified as a platform from which individual elements take form and inspiration.
