Imagination is more important than knowledge.
April 2nd, 2008 by caseyOne of my favorite Einstein quotes.
While simple, I think this thought could have some very tangible implications for our industry. While most marketing types are running around, searching for the next great model or process that will pave the way for the future, there are others that are experimenting and breaking all the rules that the last 50 years have etched in mahogany.
Most of us have mentioned this in some fashion. I’ve talked about brands on the verge of extinction and why traditional research can land you belly up. Arthur had some interesting thoughts about targeting. Jeremy did the same about WOM and the future of content.
To us, the future isn’t on a flowchart or Microsoft Office document format. It’s whatever you want it to be. It’s ideas. It’s creativity being used to make real business and cultural change.
Stop the constant pursuit to be the smartest person in the room. Strive to be person with the most ideas on the table.
You don’t need to be right all the time, you just have to be really right once.
