Bloggers Bit
The word schadenfreude could have been invented for this story. The only thing funnier than bloggers complaining about the “devaluation” of their “brand” at the hands (fingertips) of “thieving” content aggregators is an uber-blog like Read/Write gently explaining the laws of supply and demand to them.
The irony of bloggers getting bit by the very web 2.0 functionality that led to the blog explosion in the first place is exquisite indeed - and is leading to some very 1.0 sounding recommendations - like turning blogs into destination sites to drive page views (and therefore ad revenue)
Use cool widgets, blog asides, newsletters, polls and, of course, a user-friendly design. Whatever it takes to convince people that visiting your blog is worth it can only be a good thing.
Of course this only became a problem when bloggers decided they deserved to get paid for their, uh, services. As Read/Write points out, getting paid for digital content is hard. Just ask the newspaper/music/movie industries.
